As a single dad, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle work, parenting, and dating. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on my to-do list.
That’s why I decided to try internet dating. At first, I was hesitant. Would anyone really be interested in dating a single dad? Would they be put off by the fact that my schedule revolves around my children? These were valid concerns, but ultimately, I decided that it was worth giving online dating a chance.
The first step was creating an online profile. As someone who writes for a living, I knew how important it was to make sure that my profile was engaging and compelling. So instead of listing off my accomplishments or professional accolades like a resume, I tried something different.
I decided to tell a story.
In my profile description, I shared how much being a dad means to me. How every morning when my son wakes up with his messy hair and sleepy eyes just melts away all of the stress from work and life in general. How watching him grow from an infant into an energetic toddler has been one of the greatest experiences of my life so far.
I also talked about some of the things that make me unique – traveling solo across Europe during college break or experimenting with new recipes on weekends (with varying degrees of success!). The idea here wasn’t just to recite facts about myself but share what makes me who I am as well as show potential dates things they could relate themselves!
Sure enough, within days several responses started coming through! Over time these site slowly evolved towards sites focusing on niche groups such as single dads over 40 while other interests became more widely catered for under names such as match.com and love2meet.com
Some were sweet compliments about what attracted them toward wanting knowing something more than others caught our early interest while browsing profiles – interests included trying out new cuisines, hiking, and travel.
One woman even shared that she was a single mom herself! We chatted back and forth for a while before deciding to exchange numbers and meet up in person.
As it turned out, we had much in common. Our kids were similar ages, we both loved spending time outdoors, and we shared an interest in international cuisine. Though the relationship eventually fizzled out due to work schedules not aligning or me being nervous taking responsibility of looking after her children but the experience gave me enough confidence to be sure about what I was looking for rather than just settling down with anyone.
What I learned throughout this process is that internet dating can be incredibly powerful for single dads or anyone else with unique circumstances. It allows you to connect with people who may have never crossed your path otherwise and can help you open up an avenue towards finding someone who shares your values, interests while being compatible someone at the same time!
I’m glad that I took a chance on internet dating – it ended up leading me on some fantastic adventures along with introducing me to memorable women along the way (some as been great friends till date). So if you’re a single dad or mom struggling to find time for romance amidst your busy life, consider giving online dating a try – you never know where it might lead!
